Divine G, imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose in acting in a theater group with other incarcerated men in this story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art. At the beginning of the film, the cast is rehearsing for various parts in the play. These are actual audition tapes used to cast the film. The group is criticized for not doing comedy, but their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy. Rating: 8.7 Overall, a powerful film that shows how the inmates are still human despite their mistakes, as the film uses former students of the RTA program at Sing Sing to convey this strong message of redemption, all led by a great performance by Colman Domingo.
